MasterChef Magazine launches

SYDNEY: News Magazines has announced the launch of MasterChef Magazine - with Australia the first market to publish a print edition of the successful television program.

The magazine launches on Monday 10 May with 164 pages and a cover price of $4.95. The publication will be supported by a multimedia marketing campaign of more than $5 million created by Colman Rasic across television, print and News Ltd newspapers.

While the magazine is inspired by Network Ten’s successful TV series, the monthly glossy food title is designed as a stand-alone publication, with its own life beyond the show’s on-air cycle. Like the show, the magazine will celebrate food and cooking, by providing recipes and cooking information, to enable readers to "become a MasterChef at home".

“News Magazines is the home of the best food publishing talent, so we have been able to utilise this expertise to develop and deliver to the market a strong new food title," said News Magazines’ group publisher, food titles, Fiona Nilsson. "Advertisers’ confidence in this publication has meant that News Magazines has gained overwhelming support and is already well above target with forward bookings.”

Regular features include George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan’s Masterclass; Matt Preston’s favourite contestant recipes; The Professionals, showcasing guest celebrity chefs; Junior MasterChef; Pressure Test, a challenging dish explained step by step; Invention Test, an ingredient-based recipe story; Taste Test, a classic recipe; and Mystery Box, five simple midweek meals.

News adds MasterChef to its line up of food titles including Donna Hay Magazine, Delicious and Woolworths Good Taste. In February, the company announced it would discontinue publishing the bi-monthly Vogue Entertaining and Travel in favour of a bi-annual and instead supplement Vogue Living with food content.
